The Institute of Technical Combustion was once again represented at this year's Combustion Symposium. Under the theme ‘Emphasizing Energy Transition’, the conference took place at the Allianz MiCo Congress Center in Milan (Italy) from Sunday, 21 July to Friday, 26 July 2024. Traditionally, the workshops were held at the Politecnico di Milano on 20 and 21 July before the opening of the symposium. Prof Dinkelacker presented the latest investigations into the ignition of biogas in engines with an active pre-chamber as part of the PTF workshop (Premixed Turbulent Flames).
A total of 582 presentations and posters from 43 countries in 12 different topic areas were presented at the conference. Julian Bajrami, Lars Eichhorn and Lars Koch from ITV attended the conference and had the opportunity to present their research in the form of poster contributions. The topics ranged from basic research in combustion technology to the application of new technologies to reduce emissions in industry. This year the focus was on the use and combustion of ammonia and hydrogen.
We look forward to the next symposium in Kyoto in 2026 and hope to present our own research again.
