Content:

Sprays are widely used in many industrial fields and applications, e.g. fuel sprays for internal combustion engines and furnaces, agricultural and medical processes for deploying substances as well as sprays in process technology for coating materials. Therefore, spray technology is an interdisciplinary field for engineers.

This lecture starts with the basics of sprays which includes technical terms, basic requirements for sprays, atomizer types and evaluation methods. Lateron the lecture covers also a detailed description of spray brakup and phenomena as well as practical measurments and spray modeling.

Previous knowledge:

Needed: Basics of fluid mechanics; Preferred: Multiphaseflows, Combustion Technology

Exam:

Written (60 min duration) or oral (to be decided later). The course is 3 ECTS.
